ASP and Sergeant Detained in Corruption Case

GEORGETOWN : Two police officers, holding the ranks of Assistant Superintendent (ASP) and Sergeant, have been remanded to assist investigations into an alleged corruption case involving them.

According to sources, the officers were detained following complaints regarding abuse of power and acceptance of bribes in the performance of their official duties.

The arrests were conducted at separate locations before the officers were brought to the police station for further action.

A remand order was issued by the court to allow investigators and prosecutors to gather evidence and summon relevant witnesses.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that the allegations involve financial transactions and services considered unauthorized.

Authorities stressed that the individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The officers will continue to be investigated under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act and other relevant legal provisions.

The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of law enforcement and to ensure that any misconduct is addressed without compromise.
