KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7, 2025 — The police have received a compact disc (CD) containing an audio recording linked to the triple shooting of three men in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, on November 24, prompting renewed scrutiny over the incident. The CD was handed over by a family member of one of the deceased and is believed to capture a telephone conversation between the suspect and his wife prior to the shooting.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that a special investigation team under the federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been appointed to take over the case from the Melaka contingent. He said the move is intended to ensure the investigation is conducted in a thorough, professional, and uncompromising manner.
Families of the three men have disputed the police’s official account that the suspects attacked officers before being shot. Representatives for the families claim that the audio recording contradicts the police version, and they have called for an independent inquiry to ensure transparency.
Mohd Khalid urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could compromise the investigation. He also encouraged anyone with information about the case to contact the police hotline at 019‑376 4763. The triple shooting has drawn widespread attention and renewed debate over police conduct and the use of lethal force.
