KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — The flood situation across several states showed mixed developments this morning, with victim numbers continuing to decline in Perak and Perlis, remaining stable in Pahang, but rising slightly in Selangor. At the same time, parts of Kuala Lumpur were hit by sudden flash floods following heavy rain late this afternoon.

In Selangor, the number of evacuees increased to around 900 people from about 270 families, compared to roughly 770 evacuees the night before. Nine temporary relief centres (PPS) are currently operating in Hulu Langat, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam after one new centre opened overnight.

Perak recorded a slight improvement, with about 1,950 victims from nearly 590 families taking shelter at 14 PPS, down from approximately 2,000 evacuees previously. Most victims are in Hilir Perak, with additional evacuees in Bagan Datuk, Manjung and Larut Matang-Selama.

In Pahang, the situation remained unchanged, with just over 110 evacuees staying at five PPS — mostly in Raub, while one family remains at a centre in Kuantan. Perlis also saw a minor drop, with evacuee numbers decreasing to around 110 people, all placed at two PPS in Padang Besar and Arau.

Meanwhile, heavy evening rainfall triggered flash floods in several parts of Kuala Lumpur, with Bulatan Pahang, Jalan Tun Razak and the area near the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur reported to be among the worst affected. Videos circulating on social media showed water levels rising to waist height in some locations, causing severe traffic congestion and leaving many vehicles stranded.
