KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has granted Royal Assent to the Anti-Bullying Act 2026 at Istana Bukit Tunku here today.

According to a Facebook post by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the Act, which was drafted and passed by Parliament on Dec 3, aims to establish a specific mechanism to address bullying cases involving all victims as defined and provided for under the law.

“Under this Act, the Minister of Education, the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, and the Minister of Home Affairs are empowered to manage and regulate bullying cases in educational institutions or other institutions under their respective responsibilities and jurisdictions,” the post said.

The post also said that an Anti-Bullying Tribunal will be established as a specialised quasi-judicial body to receive, hear and determine bullying complaints lodged by victims.

The tribunal will also have the authority to award compensation or issue appropriate orders to ensure redress and justice for victims of bullying.
