“My position in the party and government will be announced at PAU 2025” – Akmal Saleh

Dr Muhamad Akmal emphasised that a leader should never be afraid to speak out on what is right.

KUALA LUMPUR: The status of UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, within the party and the government is expected to be announced during the 2025 UMNO General Assembly (PAU), scheduled to take place next week.

Dr Muhamad Akmal stated that his leadership within the party is not driven solely by position or rank, but is instead based on the trust and support of the grassroots members.

“It is not because of position or rank that we become leaders, but because of the people below us. Insya-Allah, I will also announce my position within the party and the government at the PAU next week,” he said in a Facebook post here on Saturday.

Dr Muhamad Akmal added that the voices of grassroots members will continue to be represented through branches and divisions at the upcoming PAU, in the interest of uniting religion and the nation.

He also emphasised that a leader should never be afraid to speak out on what is right.

Earlier, the Merlimau state assemblyman had proposed that UMNO leave the Unity Government and assume the role of the opposition. However, the proposal was rejected by UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who affirmed that UMNO and Barisan Nasional would continue to remain in the Unity Government alongside Pakatan Harapan until the end of the term.
