KUALA LUMPUR :PAS has rejected accusations that it is being “greedy” for power amid the ongoing tussle over leadership positions within Perikatan Nasional (PN), insisting that its stance is guided by principles and the need to preserve stability within the coalition.
Party leaders said PAS is merely upholding agreed frameworks and constitutional provisions within PN, rather than pursuing personal or political advantage.
“The narrative that PAS is being greedy is unfair and misleading. Our position is rooted in principles, discipline, and respect for the coalition’s constitution,” a party spokesperson said.
According to the party, any discussion on leadership restructuring must be conducted through proper channels and consensus, to avoid unnecessary friction among component parties.
PAS also stressed the importance of unity, warning that prolonged disputes could weaken the coalition’s public standing and distract from preparations for upcoming electoral contests.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to PN, saying it remains focused on strengthening cooperation, enhancing grassroots mobilisation, and formulating policies that address public concerns.
It added that constructive dialogue among coalition partners is ongoing and expressed confidence that a mutually acceptable solution would eventually be reached.
Recent reports have suggested growing tensions within PN over leadership arrangements, prompting speculation of deeper divisions within the opposition coalition.
