KUALA LUMPUR : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a clear message to senior enforcement agency leaders, telling them to either remain in their positions with full commitment to reform or be prepared for reassignment, as the government intensifies efforts to strengthen governance and accountability.
Anwar said enforcement chiefs must demonstrate integrity, professionalism and a firm commitment to institutional reform, adding that those who feel unable to meet these expectations should consider stepping aside to make way for others who are ready to serve with dedication.
He stressed that enforcement agencies play a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and public confidence, particularly amid ongoing efforts to combat corruption, abuse of power and administrative inefficiency.
The prime minister said leadership positions should not be viewed as permanent entitlements, but as responsibilities entrusted to individuals who must continuously prove their worth through performance, transparency and ethical conduct.
He added that the government would not hesitate to make changes if necessary to ensure enforcement bodies remain independent, credible and effective.
Anwar also emphasised the importance of cooperation among agencies, urging senior officers to work collectively to improve coordination, information-sharing and operational efficiency in tackling crime and corruption.
He said reforms within enforcement institutions must go beyond structural changes and extend to mindset shifts, work culture and internal discipline, to ensure that public service remains grounded in integrity and accountability.
The prime minister reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance frameworks, improving oversight mechanisms and ensuring that enforcement agencies operate without political interference.
He said public trust must be restored and safeguarded, noting that decisive leadership and principled action are essential to rebuilding confidence in national institutions.
Anwar added that the government would continue to evaluate leadership performance across enforcement bodies, stressing that accountability remains a key pillar of the Madani government’s reform agenda.
