KUALA LUMPUR : The Prime Minister of Malaysia today officially launched the National Education Strategic Plan (RPN) 2026–2035, a comprehensive initiative aimed at revitalizing the nation’s education system and developing high-quality human capital capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century.

According to the Prime Minister, the plan is more than just a policy document; it is a strategic roadmap that emphasizes the enhancement of teacher quality, student competencies, integration of educational technology, and curriculum innovation. He highlighted that education is the foundation of human capital development, and strengthening the education system strategically will have long-term impacts on the country’s economic, social, and technological progress.

Key objectives of RPN 2026–2035 include:

  1. Improving teaching and learning quality: Comprehensive teacher training programs, modern pedagogical approaches, and competency-based assessment systems.

  2. Developing 21st-century skills: Focus on creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, and interpersonal skills for students.

  3. Integrating educational technology: Expanding digital learning access, implementing smart education information systems, and data-driven learning platforms to support effective teaching.

  4. Balancing academics with values: Embedding integrity, leadership, empathy, and social responsibility as part of holistic education.

The Prime Minister emphasized that high-quality human capital is not only measured by exam results but also by an individual’s ability to innovate, compete globally, and contribute meaningfully to society. “RPN 2026–2035 is our strategic plan to ensure every Malaysian student receives relevant, effective education that prepares them to shape the future of the nation,” he said.

The plan also stresses collaboration among the government, educational institutions, private sector, and communities to ensure smooth implementation. This includes mentorship programs, industry training, and innovative projects that provide practical exposure for students.

During the launch, the Education Minister highlighted that RPN 2026–2035 will also address education equity, ensuring students from all backgrounds, including rural and marginalized communities, have access to quality education.

Education analysts have described the plan as a progressive step for Malaysia to produce competitive, creative, and ethical human capital, aligned with the country’s vision of becoming a regional hub for education and innovation.

The National Education Strategic Plan 2026–2035 will be implemented in phases, with five-year reviews to evaluate progress and adjust strategies according to global changes. Through this approach, the government hopes to cultivate students who excel academically, possess high-level skills, and demonstrate strong integrity, ultimately strengthening Malaysia’s development in the long term.
