Three Indian nationals were detained as part of an investigation into social media content believed to contain inciteful elements that could threaten public harmony.

KUALA LUMPUR :Kuala Lumpur police have arrested three Indian men in connection with the dissemination of social media content suspected of containing incitement and posing a risk to public order.

According to police, the arrests followed ongoing monitoring of online platforms, particularly posts involving sensitive issues related to race, religion, and public security. The suspects were taken into custody to facilitate further investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the uploaded content may have gone beyond the limits of freedom of expression and had the potential to provoke tension if left unaddressed. Several communication devices were seized to assist with digital forensic analysis.

Police stressed that firm action will be taken against any individual, regardless of nationality, who uses online platforms to spread provocation, hatred, or content that undermines social harmony and national security.

Authorities also reminded the public to exercise responsibility when using social media and to avoid sharing unverified or inflammatory material. Public cooperation, they said, remains crucial in ensuring that digital spaces are not misused in ways that could disrupt peace and unity.

The case is being investigated under existing laws, and police have not ruled out further arrests should investigations reveal the involvement of additional parties.
