Tan Teik Cheng today criticised the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman for going back on his earlier remarks regarding the alleged existence of a so-called “Team B” faction within the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Tan said the BN chairman’s apparent reversal raises serious concerns about his credibility and sense of responsibility as a national political leader. “Public statements, especially those involving serious allegations, cannot be made lightly and then casually withdrawn when convenient,” he said.

He questioned why the claim was made in the first place if there was no factual basis to support it, adding that such flip-flopping only serves to confuse the public and erode trust in political leadership.

“Leadership demands consistency and accountability. If there is no ‘Team B’, then the BN chairman owes the public a clear explanation and an apology for spreading an unverified narrative,” Tan stressed.

Tan further urged BN leaders to stop engaging in speculative and divisive politics, and instead focus on addressing real issues affecting Malaysians, including the cost of living, economic recovery, and national unity.
