KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Defence has stressed that women must not be treated as objects of sex or entertainment at the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) messes.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin, said that both the ministry and the ATM have prohibited all forms of immoral activities at all military camps from the outset.
“Call it by any name—‘yeye’, ‘yaya’, or whatever—it is a depraved act, immoral, and goes against the traditions of Islamic life,” he said.
“Such illegal and immoral activities should no longer occur at any of our military camps.”“No one should be subjected to any form of human rights abuse. No woman should be treated as a sex object or a source of entertainment at our messes and Wisma Perwira,” he said during his speech at the Ministry of Defence’s New Year Address here on Monday.
Mohamad Khaled stressed that any individual involved in immoral conduct that tarnishes the image and dignity of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will face strict action, including punishment and dismissal from service.
He added that the Ministry of Defence will enforce rules and discipline more strictly to ensure there is no leniency towards misconduct among ATM personnel.
